Backstory Alert 🚨!
Growing up in rural Manitoba I used to see kids in my class come back from trips to the mountains with fancy ski lift tags on their jackets. I’d look longingly at those, dreaming of the day that I too would have a ski tag on my jacket, never knowing if that would actually happen.
We’d take family trips to the Rocky Mountains (a 14+ hour drive!) and as soon as I’d catch a glimpse of those ragged peaks, it was like I was being pulled in. I’d cry when we’d leave, not knowing when I’d be back, watch them disappearing in the mirror as we drove back home.
Years later I met my love, who not only lived in Calgary (at the doorstep of the mountains), he also loved to ski!! 😍😍😍 I moved west to be with him and now have the deep pleasure of skiing ⛷ 20+ days every year. Winter is always too short for me 😝
I feel a deep pull when I haven’t been to the mountains for a while. Sometimes I just drive out and sit alongside Two Jack Lake (my fav!) just revelling in the glory and freedom of being able to come see the mountains anytime I want.
